Media's Influence On Teens and Drinking

“The only cure for grief is action” describes how to overcome one’s agony.

Once a person is totally involved in self-pity and distress they forget about

life. The sense of pain still remains, but it is necessary for the person

to become strong and fight. Take action before its too late.Keeping busy

tends to distract people preventing them from thinking about reliving the

horrid past.

Unfortunate things happen and the media still crosses the line to have

something to talk about. For example, the tradgey that took place a f

few years back. The death of Princess Diana due to drinking and driving.A

innocent life was taken but the media still need a story. Making horrible

rumors to influence not only teens but the whole nation that she was a awful

individual. Teens who may have looked up to her might have been

disheartened by these rumors. When it comes to

celebrities the media will sometimes become extremely heartless.

Selling products is part of every business. Marketers advertise

products well and present them nicely. But,when the media advertises

alcoholic items they use good-looking people as their representives and use

fun places. Teens are given the impression that drinking and driving could

result into these fun places. Teens could meet older experienced people Even

though these are mere advertisements, the media still influences the youth

negatively.

In places like India and Pakistan the cops are corrupt. They are paid

to not only let the drunk drivers off the hook but to sometimes accuse the

wrong person. Some cops are bribed over there and millions of lives are

taken away because of the greed for money and unloyalty. Even though these

places are still beautiful the media gives a negative influence towards these

countries, which is wrong. Nobody should judge anyone. But that’s what the

media is. Judgmental.

Drinking and driving are serious issues. Organizations and clubs are doing

everything to stop drinking and driving. But, the media is playing a large role

in influencing teens about drinking and driving. Radios, newspapers, television

and magazines are sending out the message that drinking is “cool” and it’s a

“fashion statement”.But society should stand up and raise their hand in a

signal of “STOP.”Prevent this before another person becomes a victim.
